Learning Disabilities
People with learning disabilitie are more likely to develop physical and mental health problems compared with the general population.
In addition, they are likely to find it more difficult than others to describe their symptoms. As a result it is more difficult for health-care workers to identify health needs among people with learning disabilities, thus leaving some problems left unrecognised. Reduced access to NHS screening and health promotion procedures, such as breast screening or cervical smears, is also a problem.
Our staff are aware of these difficulties. If you have a learning disability we will give you a thorough health check each year to ensure you stay as healthy as possible.
